Venus in Leo is pleased to announce the launch of its debut collection, featuring an elegantly crafted and versatile tie-vest top inspired by 1960s and 1970s fashion. Our Paisley-patterned cotton tops are ideal for the spring and summer seasons, while our luxurious velvet options offer year-round wearability. These pieces can be stylishly layered over long-sleeve tops or simple turtleneck dresses during the autumn and winter months. The colour palette of this collection harmoniously aligns with our distinctive logo design.

First Steps

It’s taken a considerable amount of time for my long-awaited dream to finally become a reality and in order to embark on my very first collection, I had to start with small steps. I always possessed a keen eye for design and style, but sewing was never my strongest point, so sourcing the right manufacturing partner was essential. Despite encountering dead ends while attempting to find a manufacturer in Europe, a visit to a friend in Bali proved to be a turning point. With my modest savings, I searched Bali for a manufacturer with the lowest minimum order quantity (MOQ).

Several months later, I returned to Bali with my designs and began searching for dead stock fabrics. To my surprise, I stumbled upon patterns that perfectly matched my textile vision for the collections. It was crucial for me to start small, not only due to limited funds, but also because I aimed to prioritise environmental sustainability by minimising fabric waste as much as possible.

Moving forward with future collections, designing my own textile patterns is the next step in making my pieces more exclusive and individual. I will be drawing influence from notable movements such as Art Deco and Art Nouveau, as well as prominent 1970s illustrators like Peter Max and John Eastman.

Thank you so much for your support and I hope you enjoy the new collections.
